D-Day

CONGRATULATIONS TO ME! ON MY FIRST POST!

I would say that this is going to be short & sweet but it's probably going to be more not-so-short & sweet. But hey! I'm allowed, it's my first post on my first blog and I'm excited!

I thought I would share what I have been up to since I started CCAD earlier on in September. We have just completed our first module: Visual Language. Today was the deadline in fact, and I made it! Starting off as I mean to go on... I have flicked through my hundreds of photos from this module just to let you know what I've been doing. I hope you manage to look all the way through!

We started off drawing foliage getting ourselves back into drawing mode after the summer. It's the first time I've used water colour properly and I have to say I'm quite proud of myself. We also did some flower drawings which I was pleased with...

One day we headed down to the Marina for inspiration and I couldn't believe my eyes! It was beautiful and there were so many boats!

Isn't this boat just so lovely?!

On to the drawing sets which were ever so daunting!! I'm really pleased with my outcome, and how I've incorporated various media. It took me so long to get started but once I did, it practically finished itself...

One of our last little adventures of inspiration lead us to Bowes Museum. It is amazing! Everyone should visit! From beautifully furnished rooms...

...to gorgeous intricately detailed fabrics...

...to the bed I desperately want...

...to the designer showcasing her fabulous work!

And lastly, back onto a couple of pages from my sketchbook and study sheets I particually like. This is just a simple pencil drawing however I really feel that because of the simplicity this drawing works well.

Here I mixed a few techniques together. I brushed on black ink to then bleach parts of it out leaving the really cool effect to the side of the page and I then layered two screen washed pictures. This is one of my favourite pages, I think it shows that I am thinking more about the composition of my work which makes it so much more interesting.

And above is a study sheet of alternative drawing techniques including tracing, screen wash, mono printing and the use of carbon paper. I am quite pleased with it.

I won't get my mark now for 2-4 weeks but hopefully I am happy with the end mark as I was with my work. I promise my posts won't be so long in future but I'm sure you can let me off with it being my first post.

PS. I know some of my images are the wrong way round, please excuse them until I fully work out how to use this!
