Second Year!

Yesterday was our kind of first day back to uni! It was so great to see everyone, can't wait to catch up properly! A few of my friends have been on work placements over the summer so hopefully they can teach me a fed things! I hope they've got lots of pictures to show me! We have a new studio this year so we chose our work bays for this year... I chose one round the corner from everyone do I have a more private space to work on and maybes I'll concentrate abit more! On Monday I'll be taking all my things in to decorate my bay with if I have time so I'll get pictures up, I promise!

I am so excited to start our new project; we've been given our brief but not our trends so I'm eagerly awaiting Monday, not gonna lie!

I'll take some more pictures of my summer work tomorrow too.

Thanks for reading,
Ciao for now!

I came home from work tonight and looked up in the sky for some reason and the clouds looked amazing! Don't you think?

Flowers for inspiration? Not Again!

I'm so sick of flowers having to be main source of inspiration. Time for a change up people! Of course, there isn't anything wrong with flowers being a source of inspiration but come on, everytime? Why not try something new, you may be suprised? Or incorporate them with other inspirations? I like to see originality, as does everyone else.

I love being outdoors and so during the summer so far I've been scouring the North East for new sources. Yesterday I visited one of my favourite places; Tynemouth. I always like to have a walk down the North Pier and my oh my was it visually stunning! The way the water moved and the patterns it made were wonderful, the wind constantly changed the movement and the colours were just simply awe inpsiring!  I like to look a little deeper though, at the shapes of rocks and the way they have been erroded release bursts of pattern and colour and the way the side of the pier that is usually underwater has been developed by nature. To you it may look like photos of a bay but I challenge you to see what I see.

After my trip to Tynemouth I looked closer to home at my local beach. It was really lovely to be inpired by somewhere just around the corner. I also found these little glass boxes in the fencing, aren't they just so cute?!

Ive been doing some cut&stick research in my sketchbook and so I figured its about time I did some good 'ole fashioned drawing. I've only done a couple of pages so far but at least its a start. I'm starting off drawing foliage and may progress to a few flowers but I generally want to stay away from them this project otherwise I'm forever going to hate them! Hope you like it! Please feel free to comment with ideas or consructive critism, its always welcome!

Innabit!

Congratulations Her Magesty!

Summer is finally here! Uni is done until September except my exit tutorial; however the work continues! I am slightly gutted that I don't feel ready to do a placement this year but hopefully I will have more confidence in the future! We have been given a task of producing a research book over the summer (this is my favourite kind of thing to do, wooo!) our first project next year is Printed Surface Design for Interiors. We are going to be given a trend by Trend Bible who we will be working along side (super exciting!) so our research is on anything that catches our eye which gives us no limits! I am also looking into fashion research for a future project, Embellished Surfaces for Fashion and we get to pick our own trend for this... I have ideas but I'm going to keep it on the DL haha!

Today I've spent the day creating a little work space in the spare bedroom of my flat which has been fun, I need to fill the wall with inspiration and finish sorting all my stuff out so I'm more organised!

A little bit disappointed in my hometown Cramlington today may I add, it's the Queens Diamond Jubilee today and I've seen no celebrating what so ever! :( What a shame on such an achievement!

I'll be back to update more often, I need to get in a routine! Plus pictures will follow! I also need to join Pinterest, I think it sounds like i need to make a check list, I'll let you know how that goes too... Has anyone else been using Pinterest? Thoughts?

I have to admit, I have been a very naughty blogger lately. What a slacker!

However, good news! I have been doing some research for a project I am doing and was looking for floral embroidery and embellishment and found and amazing amazing example by Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012. I am so excited about it I just have to share it...
